Building works - The New Studio.
One of the main attractions of our property at Place de L'Eglise was that it had the potential for us to create a ground level studio apartment for Barbara's mother within part of the large barn. Access could be made from the main house, through the barn with ramps making wheelchair use easy.
We obtained the permission at the end of June 2007 and we finished most of the work in Easter 2008 for Barbara's mother to move in.

In April 2009 Lazard's firm of carpenters and roofers started to install the new roof windows and re-tile the main roof.

Christmas 2009 and just the carpet tiles to finish.

When the new loft space was watertight we started to add more insulation and line the inside with plasterboard.

Holidays and some unscheduled visits back to the UK during the last half of the year had slowed our progress but Babsi and Jason had booked the new room for their visit in January 2010 so we had to press on.

We had the idea to create a shower and WC area within the room screened of in a corner but not forming a seperate bathroom.This shower area evolved to overcome the drainage problems.
