There are four roads into the village, this is from the south west and the direction of St-Gengoux-Le-National our nearest market town and shopping centre.

Panorama

Looking towards the south east and the first of two ranges hills between our valley and the medieval town of Tournus on the river Saone. The A6 Autoroute runs close by Tournus and is about 20 minuts drive from the village.

There are less than 80 inhabitants in the village. Although essentially an agracultural community it has become very international with Belgium's, Dutch, Italians, Swiss and of course English, some being permanent residents and others including French families with second homes in the village.

There are no shops in the village but we have a woodturning school very nice holiday Gites. The Chateau also has B & B accomodation, try the links below or on the next page for more information about this area:

From the East approaching the south side of Place de L'eglise.

We understand that The Church was built arround 1880 following the construct of the Maire (with a school room) in 1865 when Champagny became an independant commune. Some say that the church is far too big for a small village but it is likley that at the time it had to support some 300 people. It was certainly a large and prosperous community and this is why it broke away from the administration of its poorer neighbour of Colombier on the other side of the hill.
